INTRODUCTION

Permanent observatory for the study of european insolvency legislation

The SDI EU Law Lab Section will establish a permanent observatory for the study of European insolvency legislation, reports, and other relevant documents in pre-insolvency and insolvency matters.

This Section will be integrated into the EU Law Lab, an interdisciplinary centre of excellence focused on the study of EU law, created by the Jean Monnet Chair “The Transformative Power of European Union Law” directed by Prof. Piernas López. The synergies of both Jean Monnet actions are thus guaranteed, enhancing the EU Law Lab as a permanent forum for debate and promotion of EU law.

The TPEUIL Conferences will bring together team members and other academics and practitioners to present the main results of the activities organised during each year of the project. These events will address the most important issues of European insolvency law, with analyses of the problems and new trends arising from its implementation. The outcome of the conferences, which will be held in English and Spanish, will be disseminated in the form of an annual publication, with proposals for European harmonisation in the field of insolvency. Their visibility will be enhanced by inviting speakers from other institutions and countries.

The TPEUIL Jean Monnet lectures will take place all through the project. These will focus on the most important EU legal and economic policy issues (judicial independence, consumer protection, digitalisation, competition or environment) in order to promote dialogue between academia and civil society. The aim is to promote the debate of ideas on EU issues, broadening their knowledge to other professionals, social agents and the general public.
